Whilst thinking about moving away from MovableType, I need to think about how people might search this site. I could use whatever system comes with the relevant blog software (at the moment I’m using the Movable Type search. However, this does limit the search to pages on the site that are created with the blog [...]

I’m thinking of this sites redesign yet again. Whilst I’ve many ideas and techniques that’ll improve the site’s usability and accessibility by 100%, I’ve still got little time to dedicate to doing the job right.I hope to replace the current design that’s now getting on for three years old sometime soon. Watch this space.

This weekend we were mostly renovating the house. I decided that two months down the line I really ought to finish off that skirting board that I’d been avoiding so much. Helen wants my tools out of the house as they’re cluttering up the area under the stairs. So I got up early Saturday morning, [...]

An interesting conversation in the pub last night was the inspiration for this posting. We all know from where certain A-list celebrities hail from but what about your celebrities from Ashby De-La-Zouch, Cromer, Great Yarmouth and Donegal? Since our last visit the city has undergone some massive redevelopment, specifically the Oracle shopping centre with its canal-side European-style cafés and coffee houses. These new additions really suited the hot lazy weather that beamed down on the city on Saturday. It’s weird visiting a [...]

Just finished a new website for the OU. It’s a site for staff to use to learn how to use Macromedia Contribute to edit their sites. I didn’t have a lot of time to create this and have put it together by the skin of my teeth in time for a training session I’m giving [...]

Trap them little critters good: Trapawasp.co.uk. Seems like the logical solution. Less fun than chopping them in half with a sharp knife whilst airborn like my friend Harry Deans or indeed decapitating them and watching their bodies (and stings) live on in spasm. But don’t forget: Wasps do a great deal of help in the [...]

I had an awesome time on my first ever carting session in Bletchley. It’s Andrews’s 16th birthday and he chose to celebrate it by whizzing round an indoor carting track on a lawnmower engine powered device. If you’ve never been carting in Bletchley before (I imagine you’ll be in the majority here), let me enlighten [...]
