Getting sun

Our holiday in the sun has finally arrived. Needless to say I’ll be out of office for a while. If my host sorts out the knackered webmail access I may be able to check my emails periodically whilst away. We shall see. If not, I’ll speak to you all soon.
Guy.

Read Regular

A new font called Read Regular is being developed to help people with dyslexia read more easily. Aside from the obvious accessibility benefits, it looks really nice too!

DIY Guy

I’d say we’re about 90% finished with decorating now. Just the skirting and architrave to do. We ordered a new extendable, circular pine table and chairs to replace the rather formal looking rectangular beech table that never really sat right to me. It’ll be with us soon and then we’ll be able to quit the [...]

The Jupiter Few

If you like your music tinged with kaleidocopic late-60s UK psychedelia then be sure to check out Southampton-based band The Jupiter Few. Their BBC hosted web-page has full length audio streams of two of their tracks. Particularly interesting is the Astronomy-Domine influenced Jugglers and Clowns. That’s not to say that they’re totally floyd-esque. Far from [...]

Southampton based web designers - designing with web standards

Calling all Southampton-based web designers who build (or intend to build) sites to web standards using CSS and well-formed HTML. I’m compiling a list. I’m thinking of creating something akin to Brighton’s SkillSwap but I first need to find out who you all are! I know you exist but you’re evidently quite a quiet bunch. [...]

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason is writing a book called Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd on his time with the band. He’s the only member of the band who kept cuttings, set lists and is largely credited as the bands ‘official biographer’. However, he’s only just got around to pulling all [...]

Get well soon

Helen’s sister Wendy’s boyfriend, Alex, had a bad car crash on his way to work this morning. He hit a lorry at 70mph and had to be cut out of his car. For all my issues with the fiat Punto, it’s certainly a safe car so im hoping the airbag did its job. He’s smashed [...]

Weblogs for the kids

BBC article:
“Weblogs are sometimes criticised for being the self-obsessed ramblings of people who have little to say and too much time on their hands in which to do it. But there are gems out there - including many sites created by children.”
And therein lies an explanation as to the lack of new content on my [...]

Now you see it…

Had to remove the thing about the new OU brand as it’s not public knowledge yet. Oops! Anyway, it’s a great new brand that really appeals to me. Once it’s launched I’ll put the old post back up. In the meantime, if you’re into rebranding, the BBC have subtly rebranded ‘BBCi’ as ‘BBC.co.uk’ and are [...]
