I had a dream

I’ve been getting into the music of Brighton based folk-type band Salter Cane recently. I downloaded four tracks from their site a few months ago and have been enjoying them on a daily basis since. To me they have a Tindersticks/Nick Cave type feel to them but I actually prefer the Salter Cane tracks to the output of either of those groups. They have an driving momentum and infectious melody that conjure up images of ancient caverns and Folly Inns. I have no idea why. It’s probably something to do with the earthy live sound that they’ve managed to capture in the studio. The lyrics conjure up scenes and landscapes so vivid that they’ve managed to infiltrate my dreams. It’s a true tale that I dreamt up a whole Salter Cane album. This is wishful thinking on my part. If you enjoyed the last Calaxico album “Feast of Wire“, go download.
