Super Furry Animals

Birmingham Carling Academy, 17th October 2003
Having already received ‘tour of the month’ in this months Q magazine I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed by the Super Furry Animals tonight. This was despite the ludicrous £6.30 parking charge at the NCP next door. Still, it was worth it.
The support band, Dead Meadow kicked off [...]

Monster feet slippers

I get a fair few emails from people wanting to buy monster foot slippers like the ones Pete is wearing in this picture.
I have absolutely no idea where you can buy monster foot slippers and haven’t been able to find out where Pete got his. So, if you know where to get a pair, please [...]

It’s me

A kindred spirit no less. Jason Kottke verbalises my own approach to post-school exercise perfectly. Except I haven’t yet done the running part.
But the post has inspired me to do some. Maybe tonight. Maybe.
Our holiday in Cornwall is booked. We’re going here. I may do some running there too. You never know.

Streamlining with Web Standards

Streamlining with Web Standards
” It wasn’t our fault we had to build these monstrosities; all we had to work with was HTML, a markup language created by a British software consultant in his spare time to enable scientists in Switzerland to share information about particle physics! I mean, come on! HTML was designed to display [...]

What’s going down?

Today is my last day of work before Helen and I embark upon a much needed week off. Rather than package ourselves off abroad, we’ve decided to stay in blighty and do a few things that don’t involve getting up, lying by a beach, drinking, lying by the pool, eating grade F non-EU meat etc. [...]

Cheers for that, Eolas

So the new version of Internet Explorer is going to be released in early 2004 sans ability to render any “object” or “embed” tags for multimedia content (Background on this story).
There will be (nonstandard) workarounds but it’s not looking too good for any sites that use flash as they will all need recoding in order [...]

Complete collection of Alan Partridge Scripts

The Alan Partridge Zone has every script to every programme (just about). This is the sort of thing that really makes my day after some techie weirdo sends me an email like this:
“We are unwilling to give details of CGI scripts running on Crow. We would prefer users make their own arrangements using COLDFUSION rather [...]

Faveicon - How to create one

I’ve finally gotten around to making a faveicon (that little icon that goes next to your bookmarks). Most browsers can display them though some can’t. So, some will see it, others wont.
Anyway, to make it i imported a 16 by 16 pixel image into a smart little application called SnIco Edit. You can [...]

Remote control of IIS includes

If your website is served up by a Windows IIS server then you’ll probably know the frustration of not being able to do things as easily as people using UNIX boxes. Well, thanks to Dave Shay of Mezzoblue, we can at least easily update our include files now.
Using a fantastically easy to use application [...]

No more stitches

Got home on friday from Mandy and Chris’ wedding reception rather worse for wear. Chris had somhow managed to get me to drink a hefty amount of whiskey prior to leaving on top of five pints.
However, due to being mentally drunk I decided to get out the scissors and cut away the
painful stitches from where [...]

Guy has had to start saying no. Worked solidly from 7 till 5 today (bar the 20 min drive to work) and I'm pretty much wasted.
