Tired

Helen started her new job this week. She now gets up over an hour before she used to: slightly before the crack of dawn. Being an incredibly light sleeper, I’m well awake before the hairdryer starts buzzing away. I now arrive at work a little after 8am. This isn’t a bad thing at all as [...]

Annoying sport adverts

So, sports fans ignor sponsorship. Well, there’s a surprise. People have developed an ability to tune out advertising because they can recognise it so easily. Football team sponsors are ignored because the plaster their logos all over team kits, wall banners and behind the post-match player interview areas. People just ignor them and focus on [...]

Shock horror: Too much good TV!

Last night I has the dilemma of choosing between five programmes that were on at exactly the same time (9pm): In Deep (BBC1), Nevermind the Buzzcocks (BBC2), Aircrash (C4), The Bone Collector (C5) and The Footage Bashir didn’t want you to see about Michael Jackson (Sky 1). We can only watch one thing at any [...]

IE5’s mental cache

I now have a better visual representation of the problem I mentioned a couple of days ago. If you look at the screenshot above, you will see the endless scrolling that occurs before the site content loads. I think this problem is largely an IE5 (PC) issue. To solve it, clear your browser cache and [...]

Purify

Yet again I am veering dangerously close to alcoholism. Since Christmas my intake has increased tenfold and the realisation that there was no more alcohol in the house last night struck fear through my soul. So I went out on the lash and easily knocked back the pints at a rate not not seen [...]

Strange things are afoot

Shay tells me that for the past month he’s been seeing this site in a totally different way. Shay uses IE5/PC. Each time he loads the site he has to scroll for miles until he finds the page content. If he scrolls down too far, he misses it entirely. I haven’t seen this problem anywhere [...]

Settling in

Well, here we go. Back with the familiar Movable Type content management system. My whinging ends here. Haven’t installed the MT spell checker yet so bear with me! I’ve still got a lot of configurating (a good Bushism if I ever saw one) to do. So you’ll have to wait until Monday for the XML [...]

Back in action

OK, Movable Type is back up and we’re ready to rock and roll. Simon has tirelessly worked on making the dbd::mysql do what it should on this fort knox of a windows web server. Now for the endless task of configuring the templates!

Sunny but cold

Well the good news is that we’ve got CGI back. So it’s only a matter of time until we’ve got Movable Type configured again. This is no mean feat so don’t go holding your breath. Still, I’m feeling fairly positive about this since ole’ Simon is putting his effort into it. The bad news is [...]
