Falling down

I spent half an hour in traffic this morning. It usually takes me 10 minutes to travel from my house in Milton Keynes to my work, also in Milton Keynes. It only ever took me 20 minutes to travel from my house in Milton Keynes to my work in Buckingham. Why? Because it’s pissing down with rain and all the school kids can’t possibly wait for busses or, god forbid, walk to school wearing a rain coat. So mums and dads ferry their kids seperately - 1 kid per parent per car and as a result clog up the whole MK grid system. Milton Keynes has been built so that kids can walk to school. They don’t need lifts. When I was a kid living in Southampton (not that long ago), travelling to and from school was the fun part of the day. Primary socialisation occurred between home and school. Kids learnt to smoke, take drugs and tag walls. Now they’re cocooned from all the fun of life. Hmmm… I jest, of course.
