Making web graphics accessible

Evolt.org has a well written piece on using ‘alt tags’ to enable users to make more sense of images on a web page. The author notes that it is key to not simply put somthing like “My favourite picture” which means nothing to a text only or visually impaired visitor. He makes his case and he makes it well.

Now, be very afraid. Wired reports that people from all over the world — including the United States — e-mail Saddam Hussein with advice on how Iraq can defeat America in a war, offer moral support and even broker business deals.

If only Saddam could use a computer, he’d be privvy to some pretty scary knowledge.
